Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to common questions about scale, skill level, parts and where to find the latest MPC releases.
Most MPC kits are built in 1/25 scale, the standard size for American car models. A handful of older reissues use 1/24 or other scales, so it’s worth checking the box before ordering.
MPC kits are generally rated Level 2 or Level 3, meaning some prior experience with glue, paint and decals helps. First-time builders can still work through them with patience, but they aren’t the simplest snap-together kits available.
MPC and AMT are separate brands, though both are now part of Round 2’s hobby lineup and sometimes share tooling or parts. MPC leans toward muscle cars, gassers and drag racing subjects, while AMT covers a wider range of American vehicles.
No. MPC kits include plastic parts, decals and instructions only. Builders supply their own plastic cement, paint and basic tools such as clippers and a hobby knife.
New releases and reissues come out through the year, often timed around hobby trade shows. Checking back periodically is the best way to catch limited runs before they go out of production again.
MPC kits are sold through hobby shops and online retailers carrying Round 2 products, as well as listed directly on the official MPC website along with current and upcoming releases.

What Builders Are Saying
Honest feedback from people who’ve put these kits together on their own workbenches.

Mike T.
Built the ’57 Chevy gasser kit over a weekend. Some flash on the smaller parts, but the body lines are spot on next to my old AMT builds.

Rachel M.
Picked up the Dodge pickup with the minibike. Fit was decent for an older mold, needed sanding around the doors, but it turned out solid.

Tom S.
First MPC kit in years for me. The funny car body has great detail, though the decals are thin and tear if you’re not careful with them.
